BioBelar is the youngest of the seven gods of the Belgariad. He is the god of the Alorns, and his totem animal is the bear. Belar is closely allied with Aldur in the War of Destinies, and is also described as being close to Mara. While he maintains a physical presence in the world, he appears as a young man, and is known for drinking and feasting with Alorn warriors, and lavishing his attentions on young blonde women.
After the War of Destinies ended and the world was given to Eriond's care, Belar and the other gods retained nominal connection to their peoples until such time as Eriond was universally accepted. This left them free to roam other worlds in the Universe. Belar went in search of a place that reminded him of home, but without quite so much warfare (ten thousand years is enough to glut anybody but Chaldan). He found British Columbia. He quite likes the place.
